Meet “Gracie”

Isn’t she a beauty?

Gracie is commonly referred to as a “biplane” – so-named simply because she has two sets of wings. As we like to say, “Double the wings, double the fun!”

Technically speaking, she’s a Waco YMF-5C biplane. But we love her so much she feels like family. So, naturally we had to give her a name.

With her vintage 1930’s Art Deco design, and white and crimson paint she’s one of the most fun and unique planes in all of South Florida. In fact, Gracie is not only available for year-round biplane rides and adventures, she is also a fashion model and actress. Gracie’s beauty and fun design make her a natural for photoshoots, weddings, video promotions, movies, corporate gifts, and incentives. She even does tricks. That’s right. She’s also an aerobatic superstar. She’ll do rolls, loops, stall turns (hammerheads), and spins. In fact, Suncoast Biplanes is the only open-air cockpit biplane ride in South Florida that offers Aerial Tours and Aerobatic Experiences! Suncoast Biplanes offers aerial excursions and adventures starting from either Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) or Venice Municipal Airport (VNC).

Plane Ride Safety, Function and Fun

Our beautiful white and crimson bird was built in the year 2000. Note that year…while the YMF-5C is an original vintage 1930s design, the plane was manufactured much more recently. With design enhancements to make the experience more comfortable and safer for passengers. For example, a larger passenger door, room for two passengers up front with lap and shoulder seatbelts and the pilot safely in control from the rear cockpit. Gracie is hand-built from modern materials for maximum safety in an open-air biplane of this type.
